Online & Hybrid Facilitation & Presentation Skills Course

An extended learning journey from online facilitation expert Phil Walsh, a coach, trainer and facilitator who specialises in designing and developing virtual and hybrid events.

This live and interactive learner-led programme consists of three phases:

1. Recognising your needs

2. Understanding your opportunities

3. Applying your abilities

Who is this course for?

This course is designed for everyone who wants to make their online and hybrid interactions stand out. It’s ideal for non-facilitators, whose roles have moved online and those who now find themselves responsible for online and hybrid events and meetings.

This course can be tailored to NGOs, third sector and purpose-led organisations, as well as SMEs and startups.

This programme can be booked for groups of 4-6 people as a standalone course or as part of a wider learning and development initiative, and customised to meet your organisation’s unique objectives.

You can also book this programme as an individual. After your discovery call with Phil, you have the option to join the waiting list for our next collective course where you’ll get to learn alongside participants from a variety of backgrounds, cultures and roles.

1. Recognising your needs

Session length: 45 minutes

Following some short pre-learning activities designed to get you into the learning mindset, we’ll start by reflecting on the role of online and hybrid facilitation and presentations in your work and the best ways to use our time together. We explore:

  • What does outstanding facilitation online and during hybrid events look like to you?

  • Where are you now?

  • What are your key development areas?

2. Understanding your opportunities

Session length: 4 x 90 minutes

You’ll take part in four 90-minute skills-based modules covering the key aspects of online and hybrid facilitation:

  • Style – You do you

    • Whether you are facilitating or presenting the meeting organiser must own the space. This does not mean you must be loud and overbearing. You can do it your way. This module focuses on finding and developing that way for each of you.

  • Facilitation

    • The art and science of facilitation is knowing how to plan a series of discussions that lead a group to an outcome. Starting with the end in mind, and paying specific attention to the participants reactions at all times, takes skill.

  • Tech tips

    • As we all now connected more than ever there are efficient and effective ways to manage the technical elements of holding online and hybrid meetings. We will explore and develop these technical elements as our focus for this session.

  • Preparation

    • Now that you know all about Style, Facilitation, and the tech options, how do you prepare for an online or hybrid meeting?

3. Applying your abilities

Session length: 30 minute, 1:1

The final module of the programme will challenge you to develop a real work online or hybrid meeting or event. Each participant will have the opportunity to take part in a 30 minute 1:1 session with Phil, and receive detailed critical and appreciative feedback on their plans.
